new york city tourLive In New York City

A doubledisc live set from The Boss and the reunited E Street Band, recorded at a pair of Madison Square Garden performances at the end of their tour. Includes two new tracks Land of Hope and Dreams and American Skin, as well as vorites such as Born to Run and Tenth

Deeper Bruce ns will go gaga over the dearth of hits on this collection and twists like Born in the U.S.A. getting a Nebraskaesque treatment and a great version of Jungleland. Everyone else will simply love it.

Bruce the E Street Band are, IMO, one of the best live experiences in rock n roll. Granted, theyve slowly inched away from their peak in , but they still put on a great show, and Live In New York City is an excellent document of their reunion tour. Its been remixed and edited like an album, and if youre a collector and a purist, you wont like that, but for ns who just want one good set from the tour, this is it. The two new songs are very good, particularly American Skin very controversial but powerful. Occasionally its overwhelming and bombastic, especially on the rockers and the bigarena mixing doesnt help, but this is still a tight set some tracks like Born in the USA and Youngstown are even given fresh, bold arrangements, breathing new life into the former which is overplayed on classic rock radio and rejuvenating the latter which was a forgotten track on a forgotten album.

American Skin, My Love Will Not Let You Down, the haunting new version of The River. The Boss is back and not a moment to soon! Just keep us

Boss,, the name speaks all,,back again with blast..a great story teller…another rocking sold out concert..excellent songs with brilliantly done accoustic version of atlantic city…

Man, this guy just can do no wrong. Great album, excellent sampling of songs and the EStreet Band sounds great as always. I enjoy his solo

Its great! My vorite Lost in the Flood

By trying to placate old ns, new ns, and the simply natical, Springsteen once again offers an almost set, a nice souvenir that finds him and the band in fine form, even if its a poor substitute for the unfiltered experience.

Few will quarrel with Springsteens reliance on his preBorn in the U.S.A. output, or with the use of only one track, Youngstown, from The Ghost of Tom Joad. But the absence of anything from the grievously underrated Tunnel of Love is a shame, as is the absence of Further on Up the Road, a wistful and gorgeous new track played often during the Garden dates.

A rote version of Jungleland aside, this is as close to the live Bruce experience as were lucky to get. Highpoints Land of Hope and Dreams, Youngstown, Lost in the Flood. Still, given the choice, Ill take the video!

This powerful set restates Springsteens great showmanship and generosity of spirit, and the sheer force of his magnificent band. Simply one of the best live albums imaginable.

While Live In New York City does nothing to diminish Bruce and his bandmates reputation as one of rock historys finest live acts, it doesnt offer many listeners a substantial reward for purchase.

Live In New York City may be the first example of Springsteen allowing himself to be reduced to what he has carefully avoided becoming up to now pure product. [Jun/Jul , p.]

Fans will likely find Live In New York Citys porridge not too epic and not too stingy, the balance of newer material, obvious classics, and obscure trifles just right. [ Apr , p.]

I worship Bruce Springsteen, but the Estreet band is overrated and the old songs should be left alone. However , shots is great !
